Recommended Nature Spots in Singapore! Beginner’s Edition

date of update:2024.07.26

To all nature lovers planning to visit Singapore!

When people think of Singapore, the bustling city area with its stunning night views and towering buildings often comes to mind.

However, Singapore also boasts beautiful beaches and lush forests that are full of charm!

In this article, we would like to introduce three recommended spots for those who wish to enjoy nature while sightseeing!

Since this is a “beginner’s level” guide, we will start with three well-known major tourist attractions.

In the next column, “Intermediate level,” we will introduce some lesser-known sights!

Gardens by the Bay

Gardens by the Bay is a modern botanical garden that embodies the spirit of a 21st-century global city.

Covering an area of 101 hectares, or approximately 21 times the size of the Tokyo Dome, it combines botanical beauty with architectural innovation and a commitment to sustainability.

The park features large artificial trees known as Supertrees, topped with photovoltaic panels that convert sunlight into electrical energy, supplying power to the park.

The domed greenhouse areas, which require an admission fee, are designed to mimic various climate zones, including Mediterranean, subtropical, and humid tropical mountain forests, as well as regions with arid climates.

At night, the Supertrees are illuminated, and visitors can enjoy a 15-minute sound and light show called Garden Rhapsody.

Sentosa Island

Located south of Singapore, Sentosa Island is a sought-after resort destination.

The natural attraction of Sentosa is its beaches, which can be fully enjoyed in a tropical climate.

Visitors can revel in the beautiful white sand beaches and spectacular views, as well as engage in activities such as bungee jumping, ziplining, and cable car rides.

Beyond its natural beauty, Sentosa offers a variety of attractions, including Universal Studios Singapore (USS), which provides a unique experience compared to Universal Studios Japan (USJ).

Additionally, there’s the S.E.A. Aquarium featuring over 100,000 marine animals from about 1,000 species, as well as trendy cafes.

Singapore Zoo

The Singapore Zoo is often hailed as “the most beautiful zoo in the world” because it does not use traditional cages or fences. Instead, visitors can observe animals in naturalistic habitats, allowing for spontaneous and natural behavior.

Spanning approximately 28 hectares, or about six times the size of the Tokyo Dome, the zoo features diverse attractions.

This includes eight species of fish that live in river basins, a river safari where you can observe animals near the water, and a night safari to see nocturnal animals.

The Night Safari showcases 2,500 animals from about 120 species, making it a unique experience where visitors can observe these creatures from a vehicle or on foot.
